The single element that makes photography possible is light. Warm light, cool light, side light, backlight and front light, artificial and natural, light changes everything for the photographer. For me, the play of light is made more interesting through it's rhythm with shadow. Many of the images in this gallery reflect my goal to work with light, with subjects and mediums to express mood, to stir emotions and create original works of art.

The interplay of light and shadow can create stirring, unique images, and is just one of the methods I enjoy working with. Composite images, close-ups, unusual perspectives, croppings, digital manipulations, etc (all images digitally manipulated beyond what conventional techniques allow are denoted with the caption (DE) for "digitally enhanced"). The photographs here in some way reflect my personal interpretation of the natural world, my version of what we call 'nature photography'. My pursuit of artistry involves creating a body of work that is original, in its concept and execution, that represents and focuses on an idea, a feeling or a voice, rather than a technique. This gallery presents my efforts so far.
