Argiope Spider, With Prey.
Also called the banana spider, the argiope is neither poisonous or aggressive. They create elaborate webs to trap their prey by using the spinnerets (the irregular shaped disc seen here on the spider's abodmen). By varying the amount of amino acids in the silk, they create threads of different strengths - from fine threads linking to thicker stronger threads for the structural support of the web, to wider ribbons of thread for subduing prey, such as this unfortunate grasshopper here.
