Grizzly
Bears on Caribou.

I
came up on this scene in the afternoon, having missed all the earlier
action when a wolf pack took down this large caribou bull. The wolves
had fed and moved off a bit when the bears came upon the kill and took
over it. As I arrived, the wolves were disappearing into the brush.
I wish I'd got to shoot the wolves, but am fortunate to have been able
to shoot these bears on the kill. This kill was made in a perfect spot
for photography, down in the river bed, below a steep cliff that offered
the photographers a great vantage point, with some security from the
bears and wolves, and was just far enough off that our presence didn't
disturb the animas. Denali NP, Alaska, September 2004.

Arctos)
