Female Wolf.

Wolves in the wild are
rarely seen, let alone photographed. This one has been radio collared
by the National Park Service biologists for research purposes. Though
quite unphotogenic, the radio collars do help provide useful information
for management of wildlife in the region. The fact that this particular
radio collar actually no longer works, but hasn't been removed is quite
exasperating to someone hoping to capture some nice wild wolf images
(it's probably somewhat exasperating to the wolf too, regardless of
whether or not the thing works). I was lucky to find her on a fresh
caribou kill one morning, and managed to get a few shots. The light
wasn't in my corner, but with wild wolf photographs, we take what we
can get. Taken in Denali National Park, Alaska.
