13 Lined Squirrel.

13 lined squirrell, Custer State Park, South Dakota

Whilst shooting prairie dogs with my buddy Les Voorhis, we saw this squirrel, and I managed to catch this image of him. 13 lined squirrels are sleek and slender burrowing animals with 13 rows of yellowish stripes running the length of their body. They are native to the Great Plains of the US and Canada, and hibernate during the winter in their underground burrows. Thirteen lined squirrles feed on grasses, insects, seeds, though sometimes will ear small vertebrates such as small birds and reptiles. 13 Lined Squirrel, Custer State Park, South Dakota.
