Bison Grazing on Prairie.

The prairie and hill country of South Dakota's Black Hills is quintessential bison country. Formerly migrating up to 200 miles and more, most bison are today confined to specific areas where they have habitat that supports them. The Black Hills are essentially an island in the middle of the Great Plains basin, rugged mountain habitat, surrounded by seemingly endless grasslands and prairie of the Great Plains.
