Pronghorn Antelope on a Ridge.

pronghorn antelope on a ridge, prairie, South Dakota

The vastness of the prairie is immeasurable. Unfortunately, today relatively little of it's wild range remains. Once their great herds numbering approximately 40 million animals, the pronghorn antelope were decimated when Europeans arrived on the Great Plains. Today, they're slowly returning to their natural range, and we're fortunate for that. Pronghorn buck, male, Custer State Park, South Dakota.
